Neal’s Lit Word

Title: “Stand on Promises”

Scripture: Genesis 32:7,12

7 Then Jacob was greatly afraid and distressed…

[But Jacob prayed to the Lord in the midst of his distress….]

12 “Lord you did say, “I will surely prosper you, and make your descendants as the sand of the sea, which cannot be numbered for multitude” [because they are so many]

Observation: What is God saying to me?

Are you stressed out and worried about all of the circumstances that are surrounding you? Jacob was too because he made many mistakes. There was a part of Jacob that knew he was “getting what he deserved” when he ran into trouble. However, Jacob knew something that you need to learn too. Stand on God’s promises. He is the Lord who has good plans for your life. He is full of grace and mercy toward you. He loves you so much that He doesn’t give you the consequences you deserve. Instead, He blesses you, protects you and provides for you as He guides you into the land of your destiny. Stand firm, enjoy mercy.

Application: What will I do about it?

Do not imitate Jacobs fear, scheming, and his tendecy to jump to conclusions that got him in trouble. However, it’s very important to imitate the convictions of his prayer life. No matter what circumstances we face, we can trust God and not fear because He always keeps His word. Stand on Promises!

Prayer:

Holy Spirit, Your promise still stands. Great is Your faithfulness. Our lives are in Your hands, and there is no place we’d rather be. Amen!
