Neal’s Lit Word

Title: “Weigh Your Words”

Scripture: Proverbs 11:13

He who goes about like a talebearer (talker and gossiper) reveals secrets, but he who is trustworthy conceals a matter.

Observation: What is God saying to me?

Some things are yours to share and other things are yours to hold close. It’s important you know the difference between the two. A good friend is one who can be confided in with any matter and keep it to themselves. This is a good question to ask yourself when deciding whether or not to open your mouth. Is it helpful or hurtful, is this constructive or destructive?
If it’s not helpful and constructive it’s probably not something to share.

Application: What will I do about it?

Commit to being helpful and constructive at all times. Be careful and aware of words and what they accomplish when they are spoken.

Prayer:

Jesus, You have taught us that words of weight. Teach me to use the weight of the words you give me to be helpful and constructive whenever possible. Amen
