Title: “Voice Testing”
Scripture: John 10:27
My sheep hear My voice, I know them, and they follow Me.
Observation: What is God saying to me?
When you truly know someone there are things about them that you recognize easily. There are distinct tones you can pick up when you have spent time with people and know what they are like. I (the Lord) am not any different. I want to be in a real relationship with you. I want to spend time with you so that you can get to know Me. I already know you even better than you know yourself. Your life will change dramatically when you spend time getting to know Me. You will learn what My voice sounds like as well as what I want for you and from you. As My voice becomes more easily recognized it will be more easy to follow Me because you will know My voice and not second guess who and what you have heard.
Application: What will I do about it?
Spend time with Jesus in the word allowing the Living Word to speak to you. We don’t spend time in the Word to know the bible, rather we spend time in the Word to know Jesus, the Author of life. As you spend time in the Living Word, test what you think you may have heard by acting on it.
How? When you are in the Word and things get placed on your heart and mind, act on them.
Example: I was in the Word and this thought popped into my head….
→ Call (fill in the name)
→ Go see (fill in the name)
→ Do this (fill in the blank)
When we respond to the faith filled thoughts in our heads we begin to test our ability to hear the Voice of God. Through testing in faith, trust will begin to rise that you actually can hear the Voice will rise with it.
Prayer:
Lord, I want to know You more. Help me to eliminate distractions that take me away from listening and responding to what You speak. Life is found in following You, death and destruction are found in being distracted. Amen!
I Am Grateful For… the ability to hear the voice of God.
