Title: "Bigger Heavenly Agenda"

Scripture: John 11:51-52

The high priest prophesied that Jesus was going to die for the nation, and not for the nation only, but that He might also gather together into one the children of God who are scattered throughout the earth.

Observation: What is God saying to me?

Sometimes what looks like the best thing from your earthly vantage point is not the best thing from a heavenly perspective. The people who loved and followed Jesus on earth couldn't see the bigger heavenly agenda. Jesus was chosen to lay His life down as a sacrifice for the sin of all mankind, past, present and future. His ultimate mission was to bring God’s children into one body, this required His death and resurrection as well as His Holy Spirit to be sent to baptize those who would follow Him.

Like the people of the days when Jesus walked the earth, sometimes it’s easy to miss the big picture heavenly agenda. You may have to walk through things on earth that at the time make no sense. Know this, My (the Lord’s) plans are bigger and more purposeful than you are sometimes aware. Your only job is to stay close to Me, do what I say and go where I send you.

Application: What will I do about it?

Even though some things in your life seem unnecessary or don’t make sense, trust God anyway! No matter what people say or how things look, if you press into the Spirit and desire His ways above your own logic and reasoning then you will stay on the Path.

Prayer:

Holy Spirit, be our Guide through times when things don’t make sense as well as times when we are confident that we know what You are doing. In every circumstance, You are still God and we will place our trust wholly and completely in You! By Your power, not ours! Amen!
