Neal’s Lit Word

Title: “Stay Anchored”

Scripture: Psalm 119:67 and John 16:33

67 Before I was afflicted I went astray, but now I keep Your word.
33 “These things I have spoken to you, so that in Me you may have peace. In the world you have tribulation, but take courage; I have overcome the world.”

Observation: What is God saying to me?

Affliction, trouble and struggle are part of the experience of being in this fallen world. There is no way to avoid these things. The struggles are great teachers. When you have experienced affliction in the depth of your soul you eventually learn to turn to Me (the Lord). In Me, you can have peace in the midst of turmoil. The only place you need to look for peace is in Me. Everyone and everything else is not a lasting source of peace. I am the Word, keep yourself within Me.

Application: What will I do about it?

It’s so easy to go astray, forgetting where your true source of life comes from. It’s critical to keep ourselves anchored in the Word. This anchor is our security through the storms and waves of life.

Prayer:

Holy Spirit, You are always available to help us. You are the anchor for our souls. When we are anchored to You, peace is found in pain and affliction. Teach us to stay anchored in every moment. Amen
