Title: “Fear: The Devil’s Decoy”
Scripture: Acts 10:38
Peter was empowered by the Holy Spirit to speak to those who were considered far from God.
“You know of Jesus of Nazareth, how God anointed Him with the Holy Spirit and with power, and how He went about doing good and healing all who were oppressed by the devil; for God was with Him.
Observation: What is God saying to me?
The mission of Jesus was to bring the light of heaven to lift the darkness and oppression caused by the devil. The devil's oppression keeps you distracted and focused on him, bound in fear of a creature rather than fear of the Creator.
Through the fear of the Lord, divine doors are opened for you to take part in the Master’s mission. The fear of the Lord is the beginning of understanding. God plants His Holy Spirit within those who fear Him.
Understanding apart from fear is only knowledge. Fear with understanding is wisdom, wisdom is knowledge in action! Fear of the Lord is the first domino that sets off a chain reaction in your life. Fear of the Lord is the foundation of understanding that causes everything else to fall into place.
When you truly fear the Lord you are positioned and available to be used by God in power and to receive the peace of His presence.
Application: What will I do about it?
It’s not enough to know “of” Jesus. We can never settle for knowing “of” Him. Rather, we must press in to truly “know Him.” Elevate God to the highest place of respect and fear today. When you choose to fear nothing but God, you find there is nothing else to fear.
Prayer:
Lord, I have been wrapped in fear, doubt and uncertainty over and over again in my life. My mind has taken the bait of distraction too many times, fearing the decoys the devil places in front of me. Today, I make a declaration of devotion and renounce all fears outside of You. I fear You, and You alone! In Jesus’ name. Amen
