Neal’s Lit Word

Title: “A Call to Choose”

Scripture: 1 Kings 18:21

Elijah came near to all the people and said, “How long will you hesitate between two opinions? If the Lord is God, follow Him; but if Baal, follow him.” But the people did not answer him a word.

[Context] Elijah was the fully committed prophet of God, but King Ahab and his wife Jezebel were evil and leading the people astray.]

Observation: What is God saying to me?

So many people are one foot in and one foot out. Hesitating between two opinions and listening to the world and to God is not a lasting option. It’s time to choose who you will serve.

Just like Elijah, the current world is caught in a pickle, dealing with the same spirits that lead people astray in Elijah’s day. Reaffirm your commitment to following the ways of Jesus today. It’s not time to hesitate, it’s time to decide. As a follower of the Way, with certainty and boldness help others get off the fence of indecision and show them the Way.

Application: What will I do about it?

So many are lost and broken without true hope in the world. We have hope, and though following God is not popular in the culture, we must be bold as Elijah and call people into a real relationship with Jesus!

Prayer:

Jesus, love is what leads people to You. Kindness is what calls us to repentance. Show us how to be bold and loving, kind and committed so the world can see and know without hesitation that You are the God they need to serve. Amen

I Am Grateful For… A Call to Choose
