Title: “Caveman Courage”

Scripture: 1 Kings 19:3,4,9

3 And he was afraid and arose and ran for his life. 4 and he requested for himself that he might die, and said, “It is enough; now, O Lord, take my life, for I am not better than my fathers.”

9 Then he came there to a cave and lodged there; and behold, the word of the Lord came to him, and He said to him, “What are you doing here, Elijah?”

Observation: What is God saying to me?

Get honest with yourself here…. What are you running from? Elijah just experienced a great victory through My power and then found himself gripped with fear and running to a cave. The fear was so strong that he wanted to die, so he gave up.

What does your cave look like? What have you been running from?

Until you are ready to turn and face the music, stop running from your problems and cry out to Me then you will stay stuck in the darkness of your cave. I’m asking you the same question I asked Elijah…. “What are you doing here?” You are not destined to be a caveman or a cave-women. You are called to face your fears courageously. If God is for you, who or what can stand against you?

Application: What will I do about it?

Get real about where you are. Write a note in your Tracker Journal that describes what you have been running from, even if it’s nothing BIG, you are not called to run from your problems. Then, in faith, write a declaration pronouncing how you will face these problems fearing only the Lord and nothing or noone else!

Prayer:

Jesus, You faced your fears and forged a way through faith. You had people that wanted to murder you for following your God given mission. You did not run from your calling recess into a cave, instead you forged ahead knowing that God was leading the way. We want to do and be like you! Help us Lord. Amen!
