Neal’s Lit Word

Title: “Level Playing Field”

Scripture:

10as it is written,
“There is none righteous, not even one;
11 There is none who understands,
There is none who seeks for God;
16 Destruction and misery are in their paths,
17 And the path of peace they have not known.”
18 “There is no fear of God before their eyes.”

Observation: What is God saying to me?

The playing field has been leveled. “All have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.” Romans 3:23. Some people hold onto their “goodness” but it is not reality. Reality, or “what is real” is that apart from Christ, no one is righteous, not even one. No one understands or seeks God.

Like the titanic heading toward destruction that it doesn’t know is coming is what people are like. They think they are on the joy ride of their lives but then they run into reality. Apart from Christ every human ship will sink.
Your only hope is to get real with yourself before Me. Recognize your shortcomings and stop comparing yourself and your goodness to a fallen world. Live by a new reality, one that justifies you through faith as you fear the Lord.

Application: What will I do about it?

With the level playing field and the reality that all have fallen short, now you can shift from being self righteous to finding righteousness through faith in Jesus alone. Renounce your self righteousness today and pronounce your true faith and goodness as being found in Jesus alone.

Prayer:

Jesus, there have been times in our lives that we put more faith in what we know than who we know. We repent of this today. It’s not what we know that allows us to walk in righteousness, it’s You Lord, the One we know that makes us right before God and people.

I Am Grateful For… righteousness through faith in Christ.
