Title: “Dose of Reality”

Scripture: 2 Chronicles 19:3,4

Jehu the prophet corrects the King ⬇️

“But there is ‘some good’ in you, for you have removed the evil (Asheroth) from the land and you have set your heart to seek God.”

So the King went out among the people and brought them back to the Lord, the God of their fathers.

Observation: What is God saying to me?

In your society, people consider themselves “good.” Like it says in Proverbs 21:2 “Every man’s way is right in his own eyes, But the Lord weighs the hearts.” I am here to tell you, when you think of yourself in this manner you deceive yourself.

As Jehu said to the King…. “There is some good in you.” That good that is in you is contingent upon you seeking Me (the Lord) and you leading others to set their heart toward Me too.
When you buy into the systems of this world, shallow thinking, believing false things and calling them true, you distort the truth. Rather, stand for the truth without fear or shame, hold it before people in humility and lead others to Me. If you are not with Me, how can you lead others to Me? Talk is cheap, the way is narrow. Walk the narrow way and enjoy a rare experience of goodness and joy.

Application: What will I do about it?

Do not think more highly of yourself than you should. Instead, humbly submit to God and allow the fruit of His Spirit to permeate your life. You will infect the world with what is infecting you.

Prayer:

Holy God, open our eyes in a clear view of what is good and right and true. Expose places of our lives where we are off base in our view of ourselves and our society and lead us to be courageous people of truth. In Jesus name!
