Title: Love They Will Remember
Scripture: John 13:1
Now before the feast of the Passover, Jesus knowing that His hour has come that he should depart out of this world to the Father, having loved His own who were in the world, He loved them to the end.
Observation: What is God saying to me?
He loved them to the end. Jesus was about to be sacrificed on a cross and He was feeling a deep sense of love for the ones he was about to leave behind. He poured into them, invested all that He could and now he had to leave them. Most people in this moment would be searching for comfort for themselves, Jesus was still trying to get across to the followers how much He loves them so He decided to wash their feet.
Application: What will I do about it?
This made me think of my children. If I were about to leave the world I would want them to know how much I loved them and have something to remember it by. I would want a moment of affection that would be remembered that would show my care and devotion for them. That’s what Jesus did here. He showed them love that they will remember.
Today, I will follow Jesus’ example and show others the love they will remember.
Prayer:
Heavenly Father, until today, I always thought the idea of washing their feet was a little weird, but you changed my mind this morning. You have shown me love that I will remember in practical ways time and time again. Thank You! Amen!
I Am Grateful For… love that I will remember.
