Neal’s Lit Word
Title: “Keep them United”
Scripture: John 17:11 (TPT)
Holy Father, I am about to leave this world to return to be with you, but my disciples will remain here. Holy Father, each one that you have given me, keep them in your name so that they will be united as one, even as we are one.
Observation: What is God saying to me?
Jesus is praying that we would have unity in Him. That we would be united as we stay in His name. He also asked the Holy Father to “keep” us in His name. We all need keepers, people who help us stay on track. The trinity, Father, Son and Holy Spirit are the true keepers who help us stay on track. As we walk in unity in the Spirit then we can truly help each other stay on track.
Application: What will I do about it?
We are NOT called to be united or ONE with those who are not in the Spirit. Sometimes the world and people who are not following Jesus want to convince us that we are “mean” for not agreeing with them or condoning peoples actions. We are not called to be in unity with those outside of Christ. We are called to invite those outside of Him into a life of unity. Then and only then are we called to be united. BUT we are ALWAYS called to love.
Prayer:
Holy Father, thank you for your unending love that keeps us in unity with You and one another. Keep us in Your Spirit today. Keep us in love and unity, In Jesus Name. Amen
I Am Grateful For… the grace of God that keeps me in Him.
