Neal’s Lit Word

Title: “Hear and Persevere”

Scripture: 2 Chronicles 34:27

“Because your heart was tender and you humbled yourself before God, when you heard His words against this place and its people, and because you humbled yourself before Me, tore your clothes, and wept before Me, I truly have heard you.” declares the Lord.

Observation: What is God saying to me?

Some people hear and “understand” but do nothing different. I am the Lord who guides and instructs you in the way you should go. When you decide not to go the way I instruct, do not be surprised when you get stuck in circumstances that come against you.

Like Josiah, the king who listened and acted upon my instruction, humble yourself before Me. Allow tenderness to be the way of your heart. Through love, course correct as I lead you. I am your GPS, “God’s Positioning System.” Pay attention to where I am leading and stay the course. Don’t allow pride to detour you. Pride says “I know,” humility says “teach me and lead me.”

I am not leading you to a place of destruction but left to your own devices you will end up there if you don’t allow Me to lead.

Application: What will I do about it?

1️⃣ Surrender to the Savior constantly
2️⃣ In challenging situations or when you’re full of joy…. Surender.
3️⃣ Through surrendering the desire to go your own way or to do what you think is best…. Invite God to lead and pay close attention to what He says.
4️⃣ Take action on what you hear with perseverance.

Prayer:

Holy Spirit, show us in a new way how surrender opens the door for you to speak and direct our lives. Help us to forget and forsake going our own way and surrender to You, the Savior who always knows the right way. Give us grace and perseverance to follow through to the end. In Jesus’ name!

I Am Grateful For… grace to hear and persevere through surrender.
