Title: “Peril of People Pleasing”

Scripture:

For am I now seeking the favor of people or of God?
Or am I striving to please people?
If I were still trying to please people,
I would not be a bondservant of God.

Observation: What is God saying to me?

Learn to adjust your sights. You are not called to be a people pleaser.
If your effort is to be embraced and accepted by people you will not have the courage, boldness and faith to do what I call you to do. If your intention is to please people then you eliminate your availability to be obedient to Me.

This correction is an inward adjustment to your heart and mind. When your focus is on pleasing people, it can show up in many forms. Pleasing people can appear as fear or timidity, wanting to be liked, accepted and received by others as well as caring what others think to the point of it changing what you do.
Your primary purpose is obedience. Through obedience to My word, written and whispered by My Spirit, you will experience heaven on earth. Through people pleasing in all its forms, you will miss this heavenly blessing because My Spirit is not from this world.

Application: What will I do about it?

Speak to the root of people pleasing. Command this disastrous tendency to be uprooted and speak life to your desire to please the Lord. Speak and pray out loud the words of God over your life. Pray the reverse of the above scripture in your own words. Words are declarations that bring change.

Prayer:

Jesus, You did not live to please people, but you did live to please the Father who has the pleasure of people in mind. I choose to align with Your way, not my way. I live to please the Father and reject fear of people, desire to be accepted and liked by the world. In Jesus’ name. Amen!
