Title: “Anti-Kingdom Actions”

Scripture: Galatians 5:19-22

19 Now the deeds of the flesh are evident, which are: immorality, impurity, sensuality, 20 idolatry, sorcery, enmities, strife, jealousy, outbursts of anger, disputes, dissensions, factions, 21 envying, drunkenness, carousing, and things like these, of which I forewarn you, just as I have forewarned you, that those who practice such things will not inherit the kingdom of God. 22 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, 23 gentleness, self-control;

Observation: What is God saying to me?

What fruit is being produced in your life? Look at the list again.

Flesh List:

Immorality - corruption, shadiness, sinfulness
Impurity - filthiness, contamination, dirtiness
Sensuality - sexual eroticism
Idolatry - idolizing anything other than God
Sorcery - demonry, wichcraft, pharmacy abuse
Enmities - hostility, feuding, rivalry, spitefulness
Strife - dispute, argument, fighting
Jealousy - discontentment, insecurity, resentfulness
Outbursts of anger
Disputes
Dissensions - bickering, falling-outs, disunion
Factions - a small group in a larger one, side, division
Envying - grudge
Drunkenness - overconsumption, serious drinking
Carousing - Binge, raise hell, whoop it up, go on a spree
and things like these

Spirit List: (pretty self explanatory so I won’t break these down right now)

The flesh list isn’t to bring condemnation to you…rather, it’s to bring revelation. You know the quality of a tree and its roots based upon the fruit that is being produced in your life. When you are rooted in the Spirit, the fruit of the Spirit is produced. When you are rooted in the flesh the fruit of the flesh is produced. You are called to experience the blessing of being rooted in the Spirit!

Application: What will I do about it?

Root in the Spirit to live in the Fruit of the Spirit.
Word up…. Pray up…. Praise up….. Obey up….
Write down what you hear the Spirit saying so there is accountability for taking action on it. Share it with a crew member to add a layer of accountability.

Prayer:

Holy Spirit, I love Your fruits. Everytime I choose to root in You I see an immediate harvest of these fruits flowing from within me. Similarly, everytime I engage in these fleshly actions I see a war against the fruit of Your Spirit, like poisonous weeds sprouting up to kill the good fruit. I renounce living in the deeds of the flesh in all the sneaky forms they show up and I declare that my roots are firmly planted in Your Spirit. In Jesus’ Name. Amen
