"Hand of the King"
Date: 8/16/23 Today's Reading: Quick Read: John 18: 19-40 A Little More: Psalm 5; John 18 A Lot More: Proverbs 6, Ps 5, John 18 Neal’s Lit Word Title: “Hand of the King” Scripture: John 18:36 Jesus answered, “My kingdom is not of this world. If My kingdom were of this world, then My servants would be fighting so that I should not be handed over to the Jews; but as it is, My kingdom is not of this world.” Observation: What is God saying to me? Jesus was playing according to different rules than the people who were accusing Him. If He were playing by the rules of the world then He would be fighting like the world fights. Because His kingdom has a different set of rules and is not of this world that caused Him to play to a different strategy. Application: What will I do about it? We have to know what kingdoms rules we are playing by as well. If we are following Jesus then we play by a different set of rules like Jesus did. Rule #1 The King is always in control as long as we don’t take control. We only move or take action on anything when we hear Him ask us to. (John 18:10,11 Peter took control by cutting off the ear of the soldier) Rule #2 Because the King is in control we can trust completely that life and the details of it are in His GOOD hands. The only thing we need a handle on is the hand of the King. We don’t have a handle on anything else. Prayer: Holy Father, thank you for holding my hand in times when it’s hard to see where to go or what to do. With my hand in Yours I find peace and comfort knowing you will never lead me in the wrong direction. #seekfirst I Am Grateful For… I get to hold the hand of the King.
